how do these compare to Harbor Freight? I dont think we will see under $100 anymore? This might be my best option.

The Harbor Freight jacks (or at least some of the models) have been compared to the expensive, pro-grade floor jacks from Snap-On Tools with some claiming they're made in the same factory. There's been no proof of that. In fact there was a lawsuit over that marketing cliam. Harbor Freight jacks also seem more resistant to hydraulic fluid leakage compared to Big Red jacks.

I can tell you from my experience with a Harbor Freight jack I bought. Picked up a Pittsburgh floor jack during covid they only offer a 90 day warranty, first time I used it the jack would not open the valve to lower the car. Fortunately the car already had jack stands in and I was able to put another jack in and lift it from the car's frame and pull the jack out. Of course by then it was a few days over warranty and I couldn't do anything about it. I suggest paying a little more for something better, every jack on the market offers a 1yr warranty including this one. Everyone swears by Harbor Freight jacks but, this was my experience with it.

i've litterally never had an issue with a $20 jack or my $100 3 ton craftsman from the 90s that I still use fairly often. Now if we could get a deal on a low profile aluminum jack that would be a real deal

The Hyper tough is not low-profile.

Harbor Freight has a Parking Lot sale starting Monday June 9 and the Pittsburgh steel jack will be 30% off. But since they raised the Regular prices of the 3 ton low-profile jack up to $200, their "sale" price will be $160.

It was on sale for $90 2 months ago, pre-tariffs. https://www.harborfreight.com/3-t...64784.html

I had one of their cheaper Pittsburg aluminum floor jacks (1.5 ton $70) fail on me on the first use.. I immediately returned it in the box and wrote "defective" all over it with a sharpie to make sure they would not try to restock it .. I was afraid it would kill someone..

There are few things in life where you dont pinch pennies, car jack is one of them. Crushing injuries are crippling, how do I know? Pit worker.

I still have my Pittsburgh 3-ton jack and it's amazing. Please use 3-ton or higher rated jack stands also for safety when using these. Redundancy is key to safety. 🚗 🔧

A few times a year they have the 3 ton Pittsburgh low profile jack for under $100. I bought one for $90 last year and I've used it a lot without issues. I bet it's going to be at around that price for the 4th of July sale.

Even if the HF and Snap-On were made in the same factory and look similar, we don't know what machining, heat treating, polishing, and quality control steps they skipped, nor the quality of the seals and bushings that were used to get the HF option to that cheap price point.

I have a cheap-skate mechanic neighbor who can't afford a Snap-On jack, probably because he's spent thousands replacing his HF jacks when they inevitably leak.
