Part of the value of these is so that people can untether themselves from their cell phones. For some people, not having their cell phone in their room when it is bed time is the ideal even.

Seriously have no idea why I don't have one of these after years of turning on my phone nightly to see the time. What have we become.
Programmed to use our smart phones for everything. We also just got a bedroom clock that is so smart it doesn't even need wifi or a data center to tell time and keep to a schedule.

I don't use the alarm on clocks like these, but I do have these types of small clocks around the house just to glance at the time as needed.
For an alarm clock I use an app that wakes you during a light phase of sleep. (I use Sleep Cycle but there are others.) Less jarring and so much better than a fixed-time alarm

Alarm clocks went out with the powdered wig
My wife prefers to have one as she glances over to the clock, vs picking up her phone with its brightness at night. Its 6 bucks. My old one is like 20 or more yrs old and the base broke. Sometimes there is a need for an old school item.

Curious, where do you see that's the size and not a regular 9v?
