I tried a dozen different dash mounts and finally upgraded to a dedicated carplay screen mounted on my dash. I can't recommend that enough. It is SO much better than simply mounting your phone.

Why is it better? I mean i get it the new car that comes with the screen it's much better. But attaching an extra screen does not seem better than attaching the phone. Android auto and car play have limited apps, with a phone you can even have Netflix or YouTube playing, no lags and no theft issue

It's a bigger screen that is just there every time I get in the car. With my phone mount, I would only use it if I were driving an hour or more. It also auto loads the most recent app, and the maps app remember routes and guesses where you're going. For my morning commute, I hop in my car, turn it on and the screen says "Going to work?" I tap the screen once and I'm on my way. I've not experienced any lag at all and I don't live somewhere that I'm worried about theft (but the screen does come off the mount pretty easily).

I have the Lamtto too for my gf's car. It freezes sometimes during hot summer season. And the framerate would drop too when using the map in hot temperature.

I'm tempted as my older car display doesn't support android auto but id be concerned about this getting nuked in the summer sitting on the dash all day
