I just got this and used it last night. On its own, the first burger just kind of stuck to it and disintegrated. However when I used my spatula first and pressed on it with this, everything came out great, and it was very ergonomic and repeatable. So, while I'll be using it differently than advertised, I'm definitely happy with the purchase.
Try using parchment paper, should help with the sticking problem.

Cast iron one on sale too https://www.target.com/p/blacksto...nk=sametab

I like the idea of cast iron, it can be left on the flat top to heat up. Cast iron absorbs a lot of heat to cook from top down too....

The cast iron is great…but not for smash burgers. I have both and it just doesn't work because of the size and ridges. Trust me, just did 2 dozen burgers yesterday with the blackstone one and it was a dream. Now if you're using it for steaks or paninis or any number of large/thick items it's really great.

Also, for the person who had trouble with burgers sticking, as was mentioned, just cut a small square of parchment paper and place that down before pressing. Just lift it off and reuse for all of them, it's absolutely perfect.

Smashed burgers have been around for at least 10-15 years....why the recent smash burger craze at all these places?

Why are any food trends popular? People just want to hype something up.
