It needs a power source, but my other BougeRV holds temp great. I haven't tested this one yet though.
It doesn't come with a battery sadly, but you can power it with a car charging port. If you use it for beverages, it usually holds temp good for a couple hour break (depending on what temps you set it to). I have a more basic model than this one, but it is a fun item. I have surprised family with cold beverage when going on basic errands lol.
So if I am out working in the field for 5-7 hours.... it basically acts like an expensive cooler
