I just happened to order some of the black PETG last night as I ran out and need just over 1kg to finish my current project. Hopefully it holds up. I should have it by Thursday.

Same here, this is worse than drugs. I have almost 100lbs of filaments...and just bought another set of 4 silk.

So is it safe to say this prints well in general, holds up, and looks good? Any downsides?

I have never used Tecbear, but from the looks of it, it looks like they are made from Sunlu/Jayo.

EDIT: Just confirmed, Made by Sunlu. I have almost 30 lbs of prints on Sunlu without any failure, poor prints, nor any clogging issues.

I love filament with plastic spools cuz I have an AMS. No need to wrap them or move the to the OG bambu spools for better movement within the AMS.

There is a 3rd option which is easier than both you mentioned. You can print an adapter (many options available on Makerworld) that just snaps on to the cardboard spools in a couple seconds. It's a short print that uses minimal filament. I have a bunch of them ready to be used when I put new rolls in to the AMS. I do use electrical tape every so often when a cardboard spool is bent enough that an adapter won't fit on properly.

I like the convenience of plastic spools as well but not at the expense of some of the better filaments that are on cardboard spools. Some of the plastic rolls aren't perfect in the AMS either when you get towards the end of the roll and they aren't heavy enough to the point where they don't roll properly in the AMS

In for black silver copper gold. I don't have any silk.

I have problems using full rolls of colors. I wish the quarter rolls were more popular and cheaper. I've printed prob 100 rolls don't get me wrong, but I like to try to plan out projects to use a full kg at a time.

I actively try to look for either refills or cardboard spools. I used to have TONS of left-over plastic spools - and just no real use for them outside of winding Christmas lights and extension cords on them. Seems like such a waste for me to just throw them away. At least the cardboard spools are recyclable, or compostable.

I don't have a system with an AMS yet, though the one for my Elagoo CC is supposed to be announced in the near future. I've heard of the problems that ill-fitting spools can cause in the AMS.

The AMS pro rolls the filament and when it's cardboard. It does not end well. I have to wrap it with a cover. Easily printed or transfer transferred to an empty Bambu plastic spool. AMS on a single filament holder. I find that the bamboo plastic filament just rolled better where the cardboard sometimes can get caught and makes the fill in harder to pull.

Ams lite. I feel the same. I just don't have as much success with cardboard spools
