This is unfortunate.
I prefer a smaller form factor to mount on my helmet, and the Hero 5 session that I use is perfect for that. The battery lasts more than long enough for my commuting, and the video quality is great. Obviously it can't compete with the latest offerings, but GoPro also hasn't made anything in this form factor since.
I'll keep my Session going as long as I can.

This is completely false. The 11 mini uses the exact same sensor as the full size 10 11 and 12.

Have one of these. It's a great camera but heavily dependant on the GoPro Quik app for most of its functionality. When the app works, it's fine - when it doesn't, it's a nightmare. I've wasted so much time putting my phone in airplane mode, toggling bluetooth off and on, and resetting settings to try to get it to work again.
I have not experienced any overheating issues, however. I've even had it in out in some 90 degree weather and it was fine.

i have the original first gen DJI OSMO ACTION bought like 5 or 7 yrs ago.

Is this GOPRO version better then the original first release osmo action cam?

If/when this drops to $100 or less I think that's when I'll try it out. My trusty Hero 9 with max lens mod works great as a dash cam for my moto rides but I'd like to try something smaller. I wonder what the odds of getting a dud are.

In for one a few weeks back. Upgraded from a Hero 9 and couldn't be happier. Adjust the settings and video is beautiful. Instead of having a basket full of accessories, get a cheaper unit and use it more methodically. I ride bikes down mountains in direct sunlight. It's a proper use case. No overheating and I am in Southern California. It's a slick deal!!

I bought a mini, returned it, never again, was cold out, tried all the memory cards, turned the quality down, still would freeze and stop recording half the time, I WILL NEVER BUY A GO PRO PRODUCT AGAIN, shit was too ridiculous

he's right in the sense that these thing crash all the time, quality does technically suck if there's no footage at all
