The KP115 model has energy monitoring and is on sale for $9.99. I have a bunch of TP-Link smart switches/plugs and they work great, highly recommend. They also have great compatibility with all the smart home platforms including home assistant.

Yep, they're great for indoor Christmas lights. My whole house lights up at 5pm, shuts down at 1am, and I can tell Google to turn on specific rooms if needed.

I have something like 55 Kasa products in my home, switches, outlets, plugs, freaking love them all, some are now about 7 years old not once have I ever had an issue.

And their app is by far the best, so clean and easy to use. My only complaint there is you can only group a max of 32 devices in one group, I wanted to group everything I have so one button can shut down if I want.

Thanks didn't know I could make a group. I had one of these connected to a portable air conditioner and it shorted out, about to start a fire. Had to replace the outlet too. So I unplugged them from my high draw devices but still use them for lights and such.

Same here, I only use them with low power devices nowadays. I had one plugged into my server (doesn't draw much, maybe max 100w under full load) and one day the plug just randomly shut off and stopped responding, caused my server to lose power. Still love these plugs though, very easy to set up and works very well.

Their doorbell camera is also excellent. So much better than Ring, no sub needed. Uses the same app as the smart plugs. I have the wired one:

Is the Tapo plug version from tplink supposed to be the successor to these?

I have numerous Kasa home automation products, however I want to just state the fact that out of a box of 2 of these, BOTH of them ended up in the trash. During setup one would get very hot and would constantly reset itself, to the point where it never stayed up long enough to get configured. After a similar (but not as intense) experience with the other one, I was finally able to get it to show up the app, but then it would just disconnect over and over again, so both ended up in the trash. Yes I tried different plugs, etc. I have many such devices from several manufacturers, so I am pretty confident that I know what I'm doing. Weird that both of them from the same box had issues.
