This is about what this is worth...it's a consumer-grade Bluetooth speaker stuck inside a commercial-looking speaker box. Mine is about 2 years old and no longer charges at all, but is still able to be powered when plugged in. Sound quality and volume is about the same as a large-ish common Bluetooth speaker.

Anybody try to convert it from AC to DC and try it in their car? Looking for a really small base? Cheap.

This model doesn't charge and it's way louder than a common bluetooth speaker

I have an older version of this model that I purchased about 10 years ago to amplify my kids's piano for a middle school talent show. 10 years later my daughter 18 is in a rock band and I do sound. I use it as one of my monitors for the drummer. Yeah- I know it's Pyle and everyone think it's crap, but for the money it is what it is. It's OK depending on what your use is and what your budget is. This is NOT a rechargeable speaker, and the output can go pretty loud, sound quality hits a bit higher than the price point.

How would this compare to a JBL Eon series?

Can I use two of these as wired stereo speakers for a 'park pavilion' party or backyard projector movie night?

I'm not expecting HiFi, "paid live music" sound quality for the 'park pavilion' party - just something better than two JBL Flip 5s; nor do I expect THX-cinema sound quality for the backyard movie.

If you think there's something better for the above use-cases for around $200, please send over model number/links.

Thanks

How large of a space and how many people do you expect?

10-15 people.

About the space of two 2-car garages, i'd say. It's a park "pavilion" so open air with a tall ceiling. Image below.

TYIA.

EDIT:
For the backyard, I'd say half a basketball court.

Personally after many years of doing sound for small, medium and larger venue music events, and some as small as what you describe, I would be doubtful if a system like the one in this thread would be adequate for minimal capability with your plans, even if you could daisy chain them.

If there were no people attending it might be ok, but people are soft objects that absorb the sound requiring more volume, and worse yet people make noise. Lots of noise, and that requires more volume so people can hear the sound, and that causes people to talk louder creating more noise.

Original post before the update: If I were operating with your $200 price point and needing bluetooth, I would snag a lower price chi-com bluetooth amp on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=blueto...9Y6GQSQMKW

I would then take a look at passive (not amplified) speakers like the ones in this current SD: https://dealquestnow.online/f/18291079-kustom-pa-kpx12-passive-monitor-cabinet-black-99-99-free-shipping?v=1. These are actually very good for the bux. Get two if you can afford it, but even one would work better than the Pyle in this thread, IMHO. I have a pair of 10" ones that I have used in small venues like yours and they work quite well (for the bux). You can get the 10" ones at MF for $20 each less and they would be ok. You'll then need some speaker cables to go from the amp to the speakers and they'll probably be 1/4 plugs on one end and stripped ends on the other. You don't need expensive cables for what you're doing. Only thing left would be speaker stands which aren't a necessity for your venue. Put the speakers on milk crates, beer kegs, whatever unless you really want to lift them high, but keep them closer to ear level as sound is directional, but you optimally want to get over the heads of the front row so they reach the back.

The above should give you a decent very basic sound system for what you're planning for not too much over your budget, and it will be far better than the unit in this thread.

Last thing: If the amp you end up buying has a switch from stereo to mono, choose mono so that both speakers get the same sound. That way anyone in your audience can hear the entire program, not just left and right. It makes a huge difference in the listener's perceived volume. Most if not all concert and stage events are mono, not stereo.

Edit: After thinking about your situation and your budget, I've edited my recommendation (unless bluetooth is necessary): Here's another option on sale for $120, only one cabinet, 2-4.5 speakers but has small mixer and amp built-in. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/p...1000000000

Probably not as much punch as the setup I described earlier, but I'm thinking it might work for your needs and budget. I don't know anything about the $120 unit's sound or capability but the reviews don't seem bad on the average and the mixer and amp built-in might be an advantage for you. No bluetooth if that's a deal-breaker, and no capability to add an external passive speaker. According to the manual another identical unit can be connected so they work in tandem. I'd definitely go for this long before I'd get one of the Pyle units in this thread.

Thank you for taking the time to put that post together.

I was really hoping for a small-er setup. I was considering these 6.5" speakers for $90 [a.co] or at most these 8" speakers for $160 [a.co] along with this mixer+amp-in-one for $180 [a.co]. There's a lesser-wattage mixer+amp but I like that this had an equalizer. I understand that, even with the cheaper/smaller speakers, I would already be over budget, but I felt like these would be good long-term.

I don't need bluetooth. As such, would you change your recommended amp?

Thanks again!

I actually have two of these Kustom PA50's, going on almost 8 years now. Work great and can chain them together. They are certainly lacking any real bass. However, good feature set with 2 x XLR inputs, 1 x 3.5mm input, line level XLR in/out for chaining together. I use a 3.5mm bluetooth adapter to fill those needs. I have used it in my backyard successfully for music and projector movies (with a powered subwoofer, adjusts crossover when 1/4" is connected). It's only 50 rms continuous, so don't expect anything with depth. Small rooms are best not open spaces.

However, if you can find a used Alto TX208 or TX308, these are very good also. You'd just want to find a cheap mixer.

Thanks for the reply. Believe it or not, on of the Altos were on sale a few weeks back in amazon; should have gotten a couple then. Kicking myself for not getting it now.
