Oof. That surprises me. Somewhat. They usually feel like a nice worn in glove. Sadly, i think they built most of the recent ones in a more humid climate. I have rarely every gotten one with fret sprout outside of a cheap squier. But in the last year I've gotten a Jackson Pro Plus Soloist (stainless steel, like a $1400 guitar), two Wolfgang Special Quilts, a Charvel PJ bass, and had to run a file down all of them. Annoying. Four guitars that retail for over $1000 each.EEK!
I'm hoping it was a one off. I may try and exchange and see if I get a playable one.

This is my first EVH guitar. The neck is undoubtedly the star of the show. It's exceptionally smooth and comfortable. The fit and finish are flawless; I couldn't find a single imperfection. It easily rivals guitars that are far more expensive.
Originally, I was just looking for a budget-friendly guitar with humbuckers to play occasionally. However, the WG Standard has completely exceeded my expectations. The pickups are outstanding, delivering a versatile range of tones that suit various playing styles. Personally, I found it more comfortable and better-sounding than any of the Epiphone LPs or Fender HH Teles I've tried.
The only flaw I can point out is the tuners. They're not as smooth as I'd like. That said, I haven't experienced any issues with tuning so far. I might consider upgrading them in the future once I figure out what would be compatible.
I was able to price match at GC via chat and use a gift card I had.

Color is too close to my new 70th anniv strat i got. Damn this seems like a killer deal too, these were going for 500 last week. This would have been an instant buy for me if i was able to get it in any other color Frown
I bought this and it's fantastic. For $10 more there's 3 color sunburst. https://dealquestnow.online/f/18213967-evh-wolfgang-standard-qm-electric-guitar-379-free-s-h?src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3AFalse%7CSearch%3AType%3Anormal%7CSearch%3ASort%3Arelevance%7CSearch%3AHideExpired%3Afalse

Be careful if you get a bad one. I got a horrible, horrible Charvel DK24 from Adorama. Customer service was horrible and they still hit me with the restock fee despite a loose neck, a stripped neck bolt, and steaks in the paint. This was my seventh and last guitar from Adorama. Never again!

Same here—I received a terrible DK24 and will be returning it this week. I'm curious to see how much of a restocking fee they'll apply. What percentage did they charge you? I returned a San Dimas bass in the past and wasn't charged a restocking fee—they even refunded the shipping, since it was also unplayable.

I ended up buying a second one, and while it works fine, the fretboard has several deep, wide scratches. At this point, I assume most of these are B-stock for one reason or another.

So my advice to anyone buying would be: don't even peel off the protective plastic or stickers until you've thoroughly tested everything. And be sure to photograph each step of the unpacking process for your records.

How is the trem on this? Does it allow dive-bombing and allows you to pull up?

I also bought this guitar. I agree with all the others, it's a great guitar and at $350 it's a steal. My arrived in perfect condition. I'm just getting back to guitar and never expected to be able to have such a high quality guitar to start again.

It does allow both. If you want to install a d-tuna you will need to install a block plate to keep it from pulling up though.

Just pulled the trigger on this. Was able to research it over the last few days and it sounds like for $349 it's a screamin' deal. I had been going back and forth on whether or not I wanted the Granite Crystal or the quilted maple one for $30 more, but decided on the GC mostly because I liked the black hardware in combination with the dark body and maple neck.

Also, I don't know why this is, but the Granite Crystal WG [evhgear.com] is the most expensive solid color standard in terms of MSRP ($1040 vs $699/$749). It also lists the GC color as having a poplar body instead of basswood.

I contacted customer support about the wood and MSRP differences and they said "The body wood on the Granite Crystal model is indeed poplar. We are unable to publicly discuss our pricing strategies. " and also "other than the finish and body wood, all other specs will be the same. "

I have no clue why this color is different or if there's any benefit to poplar, but I figured I'd pass it along.

EDIT: 5/2/25 - Received the guitar today and it's fantastic. Super easy to play and the neck is superb. The guitar arrived double-boxed and seemed well packaged. The only adjustments I did was drop the bridge to lower the action a bit, which was simple enough to do. Fit and finish are flawless, and the granite color has more sparkle to it in person than the pictures show. Overall, very pleased with this guitar and for the price!

Thank you for the body wood info. I too bought this guitar (at $350) and love it. Mine was also well boxed and in perfect condition. I immediately waxed with simple carnauba wax and the sparkle really pops.
