Why it's hot:
Xfinity now offers 500 Mbps and 2 Gbps home Internet plans at the same promotional price $85/month, locked in for 5 years
Both plans include unlimited data (no caps) and the Xfinity xFi Gateway Wi-Fi modem, fully included
Plus, you get 1 full year of Xfinity Mobile Unlimited service included at no extra charge with reduced speeds after 30 GB/month if applicable, and autopay/paperless billing required
Plan highlights:
🔹 500 Mbps: Great for HD streaming, remote work, multi-device households
🔹 2 Gbps (in select areas): Blazing upload/download speeds ideal for 4K streaming, content creators, large households
🚀 Modern "ultra‑low‑lag" tech for gaming & video conferencing in both tiers
Xfinity Mobile Unlimited line perks (free for 12 months):
Unlimited talk/text & data (speeds reduced after ~30 GB/line)
Includes WiFi PowerBoost feature for faster mobile speeds over Wi‑Fi hotspots
Eligible for upgrade to Premium Unlimited (+$10/mo) with benefits like twice‑a‑year phone upgrades, 4K mobile streaming, spam filtering, hotspot data, etc.
Up to $500/device trade-in credit when switching from another carrier if you activate the mobile line before 9/30/25
❗ Notes:
After the 12‑month promotion ends, mobile line charges resume ($0–$20/additional lines)… home Internet pricing may increase if you don't move to a longer‑term price guarantee plan
If you're a current Xfinity customer and have the 500 Mbps plan, like I did, this is essentially a free upgrade.

300/100 $40/mo 1 year, $55/mo 5 years
500/100 $55/mo 1 year, $70/mo 5 years
1000/100 $70/mo 1 year, $85/mo 5 years
2000/200 $100/mo 1 year, $115/mo 5 years
I guess they're really trying something with putting some value on letting people avoid the headache of cancelling and signing up again. I do think most existing customers end up with reasonable deals (maybe better than the 5-year guarantee?) just trying to "change plan" near the end of their promo.
tbh signing up over again is pretty easy with minimal downtime if using their gateway, signing up automatically cancels the existing plan on the address (with grace period to stay connected and transition). I was doing this with their 2-year plans. Not sure if I'm up for doing this yearly, but we might just be forced in that direction (we will see in 1 year). I'm currently on the $50 old 500/100 bumped to 600/150 with gateway/unlimited data.
also timing it with $40/month off 2-years internet with purchase of $40/month 2-years mobile (+ $4 taxes) and getting a free phone over the 2 years. But it's a bit of work, and the phone is locked to xfinity mobile for the entire 2 years.
(This part is definitely not for everyone!)
I wouldn't even do this myself going forward as it's too nerve-wrecking to tie the phone's bill credits to the internet which I would like to be able to disconnect and sign up again at any time.
With the 1-year plans I'm not sure what I'd do next, probably no new mobile promo, just BYOD. $4/mo taxes adds up for "free" though since I would not want to be bringing my real number to xfinity mobile.
However, you can add the unlimited data option back to the plan for ~$30/month which in my case is worth not having to use their gateway.

EDIT: Researched and now informed that the new plans don't have this issue and existing subscribers have to switch to the new plans to remove the cap/unlimited internet charge.
