Lanterns rock for camping, power outages, and beaches. Ryobi makes one but it's shorter and doesn't have a hanging hook. Makita and Milwaukee make one but they're both double.

FWIW it looks like the PCL662 is Ryobi's closest match, which comes in at slightly lower lumens and USB amperage for the same price.

It does have a handle which could be used to hang it.

Agreed. ๐Ÿ˜… They also say "rechargeable" which is misleading IMHO, makes it sound like it has a built-in battery. (It doesn't.)

I will probably pick one up anyway though, I currently don't have any means of getting USB juice out of my Kobalt batteries and I think I would like this one a little bit better than the Ryobi.

I have had this for a couple years now and it's been useful when going into places like crawl spaces. I'd purchase it again especially at this price. I don't use the USB port much but when needed it worked for charging the phone.
I can confirm it is brushless. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I don't know about the specs, but I've had the Ryobi P790 work light for several years, and I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've used it or how useful it's been. I think it's like 900 lumens on high (I mainly use it on the second highest setting), and is directional but can illuminate a pretty wide area. I love the battery life, and it points wherever I need it, and has a hook. Not knocking this Kobalt at all, just saying that's a great one if you happen to have Ryobi batteries already. Might actually my most used battery-powered too, regardless of brand.

This has a much larger spread and can light up a room or small campsite. I have another smaller Kobalt light similar to yours and I hardly use it because it's so focused and more similar to a high powered flashlight. This light has been great for camping, house diy jobs, and especially power outages since I already have 6 4AH batteries always charged.

I got one of these with some package deal I think. It's a good light. The ability to have it be a lantern or directed in half the area to save battery power is nice, and the 24v batteries are cheap and good. I use it occasionally with no complaints.

I used this when moving a wall in my basement bathroom. Worked pretty well for general lighting.

Wouldn't touch this for $40. You;re better off getting lights in discounted combo sets. I've I wanted to pay $40, I would wait for one of the hybrid lights to go on sale.

I got this just because it was something with a Kobalt 24v logo I didn't already have yet. It is a pretty bright light, no regrets buying it. I likely wouldn't pay $70 unless a specific need for it came up, but for $39 it is fine.
