This has a ton of meh feedback on the site, the drawers get stuck VERY often and often dont allow you to open them if one of the sockets pops out.

It looks like this thing has a bunch of bits to boost the piece count. Only having 6 wrenches... I would seriously look at a different kit if you are actually planning to use this to work on things.

I agree, the drawers are not the best, they work, just not smoothly as there are no runners. Its just plastics on smmoth plastic. This kit goes on sale like this every year around this time. I bought it 4 years ago and still use it. Haven't had an issue with the tools or sockets. I do wish there were less 12 point sockets and more 6 point, but it does have a variety of tools/pieces for the price. If you're a true professional/daily mechanic you're probably not looking at a beginner's setup and the drawers would be enough not to buy for daily use. I'd consider buying it again with what I know and my need to use 1-2 times per month. I don't hate it, especially considering the $99 pricetag.

I have one of these and can relate on that feedback. My complaints are about the box and not the tools - drawers are notoriously difficult to open, the bits and some tools that are located on the top lid continuously fall off because the retaining clips suck, the closing hinges fall off once in a while and some sockets are very difficult to get out of their places.

Saying that, it is a nice complete spare set that I go to often, considering trashing the box in favor of something else to house the tools

I bought it for the sockets but the ratchet on that $20 one is garbage

It's $99.

The best socket set to get is the DeWalt 192-Mechanics. It's $150 (avg) though.
Project Farm liked the Husky Mechanics set, but that is $169. So is the better Kobalt Mechanics set.

I think this $99 set and add-on wrenches and missing sockets.
OR the DeWalt set and a separate wrenches set.

I bought this $99 set for a friend for Christmas. He's getting into some basic car fixin'. I wasn't going to spend $140+ on a Christmas gift for him.

As for Kobalt, my sister had a broken 1/4" adapter. I found one at a local Lowes, and CS did not balk to allow me to exchange it although it looked completely different.

Thanks for the post OP! I bought a few of the big cubes over the years. One stays in my car, one in my home and another at my garage; I've helped a bunch of randoms get home and kept myself on the road using mainly them.
A bit too bad it looks like the real tool count has gone down while the box quality hasn't been improved, despite years of feedback; all 3 of mine(two different revisions) are held together with hot glue. Speaking of which...

Pro Tip: If you rebuild the cube with a little hot glue in the joints, the sides will stop falling off and the drawers will be easier to remove and replace without other drawers going diagonal on you. The top handle WILL still break off@some point, though. Make sure not to contact the plastic cube with the hot, metal nozzle of the glue gun!

I have used this set for a lot of jobs and yes the bottom drawer where the larger sockets are kept can get stuck. When it does, it is a huge pain in the - to get it open. Not enough space to get anything in there to push the socket back down, so you're forced to use a flat head and more force than you would think to pull it out. Knowing that as long as you're careful replacing them & don't shake the box on your way to the job it's a great tool set. It is missing one of the longer extensions I think & wish it had a couple adapters & ratcheting wrenches but it's been my go to and imo well worth $100.
