Was $149.00, now $99.00

Kobalt's 297-piece mechanic's tool set features a wide assortment of tools housed in a two-drawer blow-molded case. Reinforced joints help the case withstand the rigors of day-to-day use. Larger drawer detents have been added to ensure the drawers stay closed during transportation. Metal clasps secure the case top and a rubber inlay has been added to the top handle for improved grip in wet conditions. The inside of the lid and both drawers feature individual compartments that securely hold all of the tools in a specific place. Every compartment has a stamped size callout that indicates what tool belongs there, helping keep things highly organized. As a skilled, do-it-all type of person, we wanted to provide you with high-quality tools to help you conquer a number of jobs. Whether you're working on the go, in the garage or at home, you'll truly be able to do it all.

  • Sockets are marked with laser-etched size callouts and wrenches with hard-stamped callouts - both have blue (metric) or red (SAE) color stripes for easy identification
  • Sockets, ratchets and wrenches are constructed from chrome vanadium steel and heat-treated for strength and durability
  • Tools are finished with a professional grade, high-polish shine which makes cleaning them a snap
  • Updated 2-drawer blow-molded chest keeps your tools organized and offers convenient storage and transportation including tool storage in the lid
  • Case measures 9.25-in H x 16.5-in W x 12.2-in D and weighs 24.65 pounds

Looks better than the 80$ walmart deal posted a few days ago since you can walk-in to the store for the lifetime warranty on this one.

I might be wrong, but I believe some people were complaining about the sliding drawers on this not being able to lock into place if you were transporting it. Nothing a bungee cord couldn't fix, sure, but it would be nice if they included some kind of locking pin to secure the drawers.

Great set, I've had this for a few years. The case sucks! They don't close properly & don't sit on it cause everything will fall out the top holder

I agree with this statement! Great set of tools, but the case truly sucks! It doesn't make sense to have that much weight on the top lid. It breaks every time! They sent me two replacements, and both broke! I just gave up! I have a great set of tools but a broken case! This would be my go-to case if not for that!

This is my first startup mechanic toolset I purchased for $85 at Sears in 2017 but my set came with 314 pcs. I still use it today πŸ˜‚. The case did not break and as held up great. The only thing I don't like is the repetitive bits, plastic clips that close the case keeps popping off, variety could be better, and the rachets are 90 teeth; weak for today. Otherwise it's been a great set. My set was made in Taiwan.

I am surprised I only lost a few bits/socket.

Honestly my experience has been that a socket will come loose in the drawer causeing them to be stuck shut more often than having to worry about the drawers sliding out. Its basically unusable. luckily the top drawer comes out so you can get inside to fix whatever came lose....

Nice set if you have a better toolbox already.

This or that $99 husky set home depot had? I realize this is more pieces but that doesn't necessarily equal better

For what it's worth, it looks like of the 27 extra pieces over the Husky 17 are sockets. Can't quickly tell from the listings which series or the sizes that are added, but I'd say this suggests some value rather than just getting 27 extra driver bits or other filler, though this set also has 6 wrenches vs the Husky's 8.

For same price if you can find it this is a better set. My local Lowe's had one

250-Piece Standard (SAE) and Metric Polished Chrome Mechanics Tool Set with Hard Case https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-2...5001920933

This may have "less" pieces (i.e.) it doesn't include silly bits they count as pieces. But it includes the wrenches.

I almost bought one of these sets about a month ago. What they don't tell you is that if you don't pick it up at one of their stores the shipping is like 79 bucks. Not much of a deal when the shipping is almost as much as the tools. I just bought a Craftsman set from Amazon and got free prime shipping on it.

I bought the $100 husky one from home Depot yesterday, is this set better? The box for the Husky kit feels pretty decent and it locks well it seems.
