The Costco bundle has a better bench, stand, and peddle included.

I can't find out too much information on the piano itself in the Costco bundle. Previous Costco bundle had a model slightly closer to the FP-10X but with higher polyphony (how any notes at once). The current Costco listing says "infinite"? polyphony.

The only thing definitive I can find is the Costco model has fewer built in instrument sounds. My guess is for most people the Costco deal is better (the return policy alone) if your local warehouse has them.

Yeah the X-style stands are terrible unless you're going to be standing while playing. As for polyphony, unless you're going to play very advanced, fast pieces, I would argue even a polyphony of 64 is plenty sufficient. And you're also going to want to record it, where you might want a higher polyphony then either you're going to be using a better instrument or you're going to use a VST over MIDI, at which point polyphony becomes relevant on whatever your software on your computer can handle.

I checked out similar keyboards at Guitar Center to this and the Costco Yamaha. I am beginner so I was not the best judge of feel, sound, and features. I ended getting the Roland due to price, shipping, and not having space for the wooden stand. My only initial complaint about the Roland is that it uses Matte white keys instead of glossy, which also had a slight yellow (off-white?) hue. Perhaps that was due to it being a display model. I am excited!

Polyphony is not just quantitative, it is qualitative. It's not just a measure of how many notes the instrument can sound at one time, it can also reflect how layered the sound is. Better quality samples or sound modeling require higher polyphony. A polyphony of 64 is sufficient for many things, but playing music that uses a lot of sustain pedal and ornamentation, such as a Chopin nocturne, can have you running out of notes.

I wouldn't recommend Roland for children or small hands, because the action is a bit heavy and slow on the return. The Casio PX870 would be more suitable. You might also look at the new Kawai ES60.

True, but if you're playing Chopin (even the easier nocturnes) then I don't think you're going to look at playing an entry level instrument like this.

FRP-nuvola is newer model and has different engine. Mechanical-wise, Nuvola and 30x are very similar. I was going to purchase 30x but I prefer the set up that comes with Costco package, so I went with nuvola.
