Please do not buy. Their OS and apps are like shit! I regret to buy F4-423. I wish I bought from a more well-established system so that I don't have to deal with Terramaster's broken software.

Can you not install TrueNAS or something else on it?

I bought one of the UGreen NAS devices on Kickstarter, and had so many concerns with backdoors and the like I decided to disable the on-board NVMe slot that their OS was on, and installed TrueNAS without an issue. (After being burned by the other NAS Kickstarter campaign- Storaxa :/)

I will say I still have my Synology sitting around since it's still chugging along just fine being a photo and pc backup system. Haven't quite transitioned those functions over, yet.

I can't personally vouch for them,
But there's the TERRAMASTER D4-320 4bay DAS with USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (No hardware RAID) for $190 or 152 with Amazon Prime.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CTTL9R7Z/

Or there's the QNAP TR-004 4-Bay Enclosure with the slower USB 3.2 Gen 1 but w/ hardware RAID.
