I bought one of these a earlier in the year on another sale that was like $5 cheaper. It's a fantastic guitar, plays great and feels great. Needed only minor adjustments out of the box.

I didn't care for the vintage tuners, so I replaced those, but that was the only functional piece I replaced. I also didn't like the pickguard so that was replaced as well, purely aesthetic.

Points of info:

The pickups are great. Classic Gretsch sound.

It's made in China, but the craftsmanship is very good. The website may say Indonesia, it's lying.

It's a good electric for people who previously only played acoustic. The neck profiles are similar and you'll be right at home.

The midnight blue color is gorgeous. Just absolutely beautiful. It's a guitar center / musicians friend exclusive.

I'm very happy with mine and think the upgrade from Streamliner to Electromatic is well worth it.

yes this one is made in China, it's in one of the pictures.

Nonetheless, I really like Gretsch guitars, they look sexy and some are priced very affordable.

This is just a G5420 in exclusive colors and with tombstone neck inlays. They began making these while the G5420 were transitioning from an Indonesia to China plant. You can tell the China G5420 because they don't say "Electromatic" on the headstock and have the newer pickups like these.

wasn't 5420 made in Korea before it transitioned to China? Their Streamliner lineup is made in Indonesia, but I thought that Electromatics were made in Korea (hollows) and China (solids), and later all Electromatics transitioned to China.

Yes, youre right, my bad, 5420 was Korea not Indonesia, I was getting them mixed up. They then made the 5410 in Korea but without the "Electromatic" headstock and Blacktop pickups, then the 5427 in China with the new internal bracing and I think newer pickups, maybe the FT5E filtertrons? There may have been a run with blacktops, not sure. The newest Chinese 5420s are same measurements and internals as the 5427s, and the new new 5420s have the same FT5E filtertrons.

The new 140th anniversary G5420 is drop dead gorgeous, but not exactly a slick deal.
