I feel like their non-brushless tools get more cheaply made each iteration. I purchased a 6 tool combo back maybe 6 years ago or more and then recently a few months ago i purchased this exact combo for this price. The drill and driver in comparison to the older models is a joke. The drill is for toddler play.

Also the reciprocating saw broke at the part that holds the blade, yet my old one I gave to my dad and then had to borrow back still going strong.

Thoughts for a weekend warrior? Just using it for small projects/fixes around the house. Not trying to built a deck or anything.

It's probably good for keeping around the house to fix this and that here and there. I started on makita platform. I bought this same set for my son a couple months ago when it was also 199. He's 11. I would not buy this as a gift for anyone over 25 unless they had no tools whatsoever.

You can really feel the difference in quality with makita and ryobi. And they are both brushed. Some of the tools feel like if you dropped them they would break into 5 pieces. But if you're not using more than once a week, probably okay.

Great collection and good price, if your not a professional and just need it for stuff around home, this is perfect. But will need more batteries eventually. I have everything on this deal and beat up on these tools. They work fine for most peoples needs.

I bought this set several years ago. So I can provide my experience if that is helpful.
Drill - works fine for small, home stuff. Use it to this day.
Impact driver - works fine for small home stuff. Superceded by a Milwaukee
Circular saw - small blade, limited use. works fine for small cuts. Otherwise you would need a 6". I dont need a 6", so for occasional use, OK
Reciprocating saw - used it a bunch on tree limbs, bushes. Mostly superceded by Ryobi one handed reciprocating saw.
Multi-tool - never used it
LED light - my version was not LED, but a bulb. Gave it away.

Bottom line - its a way to get into these battery powered tools. But eventually, it may be cheaper to buy better dedicated tools, even with Ryobi on some great sales. Examples: batteries - the most recent great deal was four, 6Ah batteries for around $129. Then get a brushless drill which everyone needs, and then look for tools you need. If you garden a lot, the one handed reciprocating saw is great. Avoid Ryobi jig saws, they dont cut straight. The 10" sliding mitre saw is great. The 1" SDS hammer drill is great. The 1 gal vacuum currently on sale for $50 is great. Those are the ones I use most often.

Ryobi tools work great, I have been using them for years. Some of the smaller miter saws are onlt good for 2 x 4's and trim but the rest of the tools have put in work over here! 99% of the woodworkers or DIY guys I see on Youtube use Ryobi tools not because thye are sponsoring anyone just because they are low cost, last and get the job done!

Yeah, the reciprocating saw with a 12" pruning blade is a must to maintain a yard or cut up wooden debris to put into trash bin. multitool is amazing I use it nearly daily. with right blade it can cut metal, nails, rusty bolts, scrape paint, sand corners.
My woes are mainly due to me being a painter/handyman so I use them alot but not enough to justify Milwaukee brand. I feel older ryobi fit my needs now with reiterated tools i feel i must move to new platform.

Whoa, they did 4 x 6Ah batteries?? They weren't the higher power versions were they? I'm thinking about getting into Ryobi and so I'm trying to get a sense what type of deal is a good entry point.

Yes, quite a deal. It required a hack, and in the end it was 4 x 6Ah HP batteries. These are the same size as my 4Ah batteries. I think it was $139, too good a deal to pass up,

Probably the best thing about getting into Ryobi is that you can often pick up reconditioned tools from direct tools factory outlet very cheaply during sales.
