these imported models do not go through energy star certification. I remember seeing a Best buy Insignia model that is energy start certified - will come in handy if your utility offered any rebate for such a purchase.

I will take that with a grain of salt. Just click their energy guide PDF and you will see the header of the page is in asian language.

All appliances are made in asia and imported. I doubt any one still actively makes in developed countries - maybe final assembly if anything.
