This specific drill is listed as brushless on the Dewalt website, also, it says brushless right on the side of it.

"20v Max" is kind of their entry level tool line (older designs)
"Atomic" is newer tools that are usually more compact, a good value for DIY.
"XR" is the top of the line in DeWalt tools. Stronger, though they may be a bit larger than Atomic.

Can't comment on the drill from this post, but I own the one that I linked and I have zero complaints. Rarely reach for the full size one since this does everything I ask of it!
