With the premium pen and an old kindle trade in I got an additional 20% off plus a $20 gift card. Out the door for $205.67!!!!
I mostly use it for work. I'm an attorney and, instead of using legal pads to take notes and later scan the pages into the electronic file, I use this. I have a separate "notebook" for each of my cases and take notes on the Scribe in the notebook, after which I export the notebook in PDF form to add to the electronic file. There are some situations, like trial, where I don't use it and instead use paper, but on the whole I like to think maybe I've saved some trees.
This is the prime day sale. It's not going lower than this. They usually put their own devices on sale in advance of actual prime day

With prime days coming up, the Amazon devices usually go on sale as well. But seems like a nice deal

Yep, I'm expecting to see around the 240 mark next week. What I don't understand is if I can trade in an old fire tablet for a discount on this. I've seen varying reports, both from here and Amazon chat. I'd much rather give up a tablet I'm not using anymore than my Oasis that gets daily use. Especially since I'm not totally sure if I'd keep this as an Oasis replacement. I've also seen it differs if you click the trade in link on the item page vs browsing to the trade in section?

Clicking the trade in link on the item page let me apply the coupon to this Kindle after going through the process with a Fire tablet.

I got the basic pen model on black friday last year.

I played some sudoku for a bit. I just imported a blank sudoku grid and copied over puzzles from the tiny sudoku books from Daiso. Once that novelty died down, I basically haven't touched the pen since.

I just use this as an extra large kindle/DX spiritual successor. That's basically all I wanted when I bought the Scribe. If that's the main use case you care about, just buy the cheapest base model with a trade in discount and be happy like me

What an interesting and cool use case! Do you have the ability to convert the handwriting to text as well as word search capabilities?

As I've posted on other Scribe threads, the device is exceptional in its abilities, with regard to its namesake — the pen functionality. Writing, drawing, sketching, and note-taking are very good. Reading is good on this as well. The large screen is beneficial, although heavy. My greatest gripe is non-encrypted data. Why they downgraded, I'm not certain. I've read that Kindle data was once encrypted. You can read in many reviews that this issue keeps people who have personal and sensitive data from investing in the Scribe. I used this daily at first, but now do not feel as confident in the privacy of the data. I still use it daily, but for less personal needs, primarily reading. Maybe Amazon will go back to encrypted with enough requests.

It has the ability to convert to text, and I think to word search, but unfortunately my handwriting is too messy so it wasn't too successful.

Got it. I won't put my password book in this thing if I use it.

i traded in a 2015 fire 10 and its showing the 20% off, ymmv but its quite a bit bulkier than most readers due to the screen size

Was thinking about getting another one as a gift for my niece who is going to college. But the price was cheaper for the Kindle/Prem Pen/64gb in Nov 2023:

Order Summary
Item(s) Subtotal:
$304.99
Shipping & Handling:
$0.00
Kindle Trade-in:
-$61.00
Total before tax:
$243.99
Estimated tax to be collected:
$25.01
Gift Card Amount:
-$30.00
Grand Total:
$239.00

Current, price is $420 * .8 = 336 * .9 (10% off using Prime Visa) = 302.40. FYI for anyone who is thinking about the Prem Pen/64gb version.
