Let me tell you a story about a store named Fry's...
It's worth $600 alone for DIRAC alone, which is typically a $300 license. So you're getting a 9.2 receiver for $300, and the best auto calibration software in the market. Anyone with an entry level Yamaha or Denon should be jumping on this.
i do wonder what % of buyers actually have 9.2 systems or even 7.2

how many buy it for a 5.1 system i might.

Currently on a RZ830 and could use HDMI 2.1 and Dirac but this is tempting... What has been the low for the RZ50?

New, I believe $1k.
If you're open to refurbs AC4L has it for $899. https://www.accessories4less.com/...ver/1.html

You might better off with the Pioneer LX505, less expensive.

The 7100 has both HDMI 2.1 and Dirac. So go for it! FYI- BF it was $529.

Been waiting for this particular receiver to drop back down to this price! It's the only one (under like $1k) that has basically all of the features I wanted. Bought new speakers earlier this year, so I'm stoked to pair them with a more powerful receiver. Only downside is this is WAY deeper than my old receiver so I'm going to have to cut out the back of my entertainment center since they make those so dang shallow nowadays. So, if you are upgrading, be sure to measure first!

No reason to buy anything else under $1,000. Dirac is where it's at.

While this receiver can do "Dolby Atmos" and "Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization" why cannot it do "Dolby Atmos Music"; why would Dolby Atmos Music be any different than "Dolby Atmos"

Source: https://www.zkelectronics.com/com...vsx-lx505/
under the "Audio" section it states this receiver cannot do "Dolby Atmos Music"

The receiver is not able to decode Atmos music on it's own, and I think this is true for almost all AV receivers, but it can play Atmos music. You need to use an external media device such as the Apple TV 4K, Fire Stick/Cube or Nvidia Shield. I think some TVs will also support it to the receiver as well.

Well, I remember getting my 9.2 channel Ultra THX 2 rated Onkyo 1007 for $600 back in 2010…. Still going strong after an hdmi board replacement under their extended warranty. Wish I could get something with that kind of power these days for less than $1000. Denon 3800h or 4700 seem like the best options in terms of amp quality for $1000.

It plays Dolby Atmos music through the Apple TV 4K. Never had an issue.

Thank you, will check if my TV or my PC will support sending Atmos music to AV receiver
