It states: " How do I get my trade-in payment?
After your device is processed, you'll receive a credit for the assessed value. If you've paid for your new device in full, the trade-in credit will be refunded to your credit card within two billing cycles. Otherwise, a monthly credit will be applied to your Device Payment Plan in equal parts over the duration of the plan, starting within two billing cycles.
Additional details will be provided in your trade-in email from Assurant."
If your device is paid in full it is supposed to go back to your credit card. I have done 4 of these and on all 4 they credited my Spectrum account, however each time a very short phone call with CS resulted in the credit going to my CC.
If you need a $40 trade-in phone for this deal:

If above phone not available, here is a $50 phone for trade-in deal:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Tracfo.../456429801
WARNING
Make sure to turn it on and see if your phone can activate. Walmart is not properly scanning these phones and trade ins are getting denied because of anti-theft. Buy these phones in store if you can! try to activate online and if error take the whole phone box package to store and have them rescan and reissue back to you or get replacement. check to make sure IMEI of "new" device can be activated online before you leave store
if above can't fix your problem then do the following:
1. Reach out to straight talk CS and ask them to escalate with issuing ticket
2. They will tell you to do the following: Email [email protected] with name, contact number, ticket number (this is created by chat agent) and attach receipt proof and picture of IMEI (I took a picture of the card that has the IMEI and sim card number on it).
3. You should get email about 24-48 hours later that it can now be activated
4. If they ask you to activate with phone plan then buy this $15 plan and give them the PIN and other relevant information they ask for
https://www.target.com/p/tracfone...A-87908383
Takes roughly 15 minutes to come in after purchase to hit email.
5. If they didn't ask to activate on tracfone then visit https://www.straighttal
6. Insert sim if not already in, turn off phone and turn back on. Make a test call. If call won't go through wait 5 minutes. You'll probably get some texts from Tracfone and calling should work. They suggest to turn off and on again if not, but I didn't need to.

Store trade-in is YMMV
- Most stores will uphold the promotion - if not, go to a different store
- Device usually needs to be in stock - some stores will ship if not in stock
- Stock is usually low and sells out fast - may need to try more than once
- Higher storage options are usually not available in stores - only online
- Tax is dependent on state - some charge MSRP, some charge discounted price
- Doing too many trade in in short amount of time might get your account flagged - only online is available then

And for those wondering, got trade in approval confirmation yesterday and credit it account today. So even though it says 1-2 billing cycles, you can request your refund much sooner than that if paid in full.
P.S: fyi, i sent my trade in device on same day i placed the order. 1st time doing this with Spectrum. I trusted it would end well based on all your comments / exp from previous deal of S23 series last yr.
I found this out after I did two trade-ins for S24s. Thankfully I just paid them in full versus the 36 month option. I'm still stuck with them for at least 60 days though so I can get the phones unlocked. I still had 9 payments to go on my Pixel Pro 7 though but I decided to pay it off and trade it in for an S24 Ultra. I have a total of four By the Gig lines so my monthly bill is going from $56 to $80. We never go over the 4GB of shared data so there is no benefit to the reduced extra GB cost.
After I get the three phones unlocked we are going to switch to US Mobile and give them a try. Worst case it they suck I will port two lines back to Spectrum Mobile for the $15/month unlimited promo for a year.

This year the only thing that got me worried was USPS stopped tracking movement and people here started reporting issues with trade ins being denied. I was not too concerned about Assurant ultimately receiving my device but was concerned if my trade in was denied. Spectrum customer service is terrible in terms of fixing issues. If things go smoothly in their system, fine, but I have had bad experience with anything that deviates even slightly. That is what got me worried this go around.
But aside from the USPS delay, great. Double storage with the preorder and tax automatically refunded with the credit.
The only other difference is with the S23 I was able to get it unlocked immediately at the same time I requested by credit. With the S24 they are now saying 60 days. So for those actually planning to use the phone, I think this means you cannot do dual SIM mode with another carrier for the first 60 days.

should i activate completely or no point since the SIM isn't in the actual phone?

It seems like SCAM run by USPS + Assurent.
Here is my timeline..
- Placed an order on 30h Feb. Spectrum flagged my Order telling me they needed to verify my residential proof.
- Uploaded my government-issued ID with the Address on it. they released my order and shipped it on the 2nd and received my order on the 5th.
- Once it shipped I shipped my Trade-in 2022 Moto-Stylus just brand new unlocked, on 3rd.
- Shows in USPS it was picked up in Fairfield,
- No further update. Was thinking that I lost my phone and parcel and had to return the phone.
- Called today the Postmaster at the local post office and asked whether the parcel is sitting at the post office or shipped.
- He did not answer and told me he would investigate and Give me a callback. Within 30 minutes he located the parcel in LEWISVILLE, TX's local post office. (He called me and updated me)
- After Post master's phone call. 15 mins received a text that the Parcel was ready for Delivery.
- Within 2 minutes, it updated its status to Delivered, Individual Picked Up at Postal Facility.
Seems like a Scam run by Assurent...They pick up only the new packages and old packages are still sitting in TX.
UPDATE: IN ASSURENT SYSTEM IT SAYS " Your device was received at our warehouse on 02/07/2024. It should be assessed by 02/09/2024."

Or Can I just trade it in without getting activated?
I currently have spectrum internet and have a mobile unlimited line with spectrum that comes out $69.99 per month and just placed order for the Moto G Pure 2021($25) from amazon and will be delivered this Sunday.
I am trying to get S24 128gb with unlimited plan that's 29.99. However since I already have a mobile line with them I think it will be just another 14.99 instead of full $29.99.
my plan is to have it +60 days and get it unlocked & cancel plan and give S24 to my father.
If I just take it to the spectrum store location, does it make the process easier..?

Glad it worked out for most of us, but it makes sense people got concerned when $700 and their trade in is on the line with a limited timeline and potentially having to deal with Spectrum customer service to resolve an issue.

One potential perk to buying online versus in store is that you can purchase with a credit card online and then have the trade in credit sent to a different card (such as debit), which can have perks in terms of CC rewards. If you purchase in store and they apply the discount immediately then you cannot do this. Several people are now confirming that tax is being refunded with online purchases once the trade in is processed, it does not appear the lower tax thing is really an in store perk.
