Is this any good? I don't trust magnetic attachments for use in cars.
This is really good. A great magnet and the attachment for the vent is well made. I'm pretty sure the person who sells these are on this forum

Have this for over 2 years now. It holds my heavy Samsung Fold 4 in closed open and sideways positions without any issues. I have it glued to my part alluminum dashboard and it's holding there at -20f and it held over the summer when it was 120f inside. The metal ring is large enough where it does not feel awkward, and my wireless chargers work without issues. I would buy a second one but I only have one car.

Not horrible. Just note that the picture might lead some to think it is multiple magnetic devices. It is one magnetic mount that can adapt into different configurations

I've tried multiple magnetic mounts, including an adapter to use the official apple MagSafe charger in the car. They all sucked and smallest bump would send my phone(iphone 13 ProMax) flying or the mount would break.

Tried this one in April of 2023. The magnets are STRONG the phone gets sucked into place with force. The mount hasent loosened over time. I bought two more, one in the wifes kia that has a weird ridge along the center console(this is the only one that has clamped the ridge and stayed in place) and used the magnet part of one on a i ottie telescoping mount.

I'll probably buy another for my Bronco i take off roading

Cant speak for the magnets but those exact mounts constantly break for me around the threads where you tighten or loosen to adjust it

Ease up Hercules, these are only made of plastic.

lol .40 cents more and its expensive?

Picked up another one of these. Magnets are strong with bare rear and with the wifes magsafe case. This was the only mount that fit for me. Did not want to stick it on the leather dash and cannot fit on the AC vent.

Lol i think its the heat cycling of being in a car and vibration, the plastic gets brittle and breaks.

Are you saying it holds Fold without the actual MagSafe? Do you have a case on it?

Don't have this particular one, but last year I bought a similar one from this company that has wireless charging + the magsafe. I was genuinely surprised how well magnet holds. Bough a second one as backup but so far, almost a year , the first one is going strong, charging my phone even when I use navigation. And I have a heavy phone - s23u

Ours kind of fell apart, the magnet came out of the base ( crazy glue fixed it) the extra metal plates didn't stay on the phone case for long (bought extra plates and they seem to stick better)
