I played on the release and I'm not sure about the single player, but the co-op is terrible, refunded immediately. Lots of potential though, gotta start somewhere, I'm really looking forward to an enjoyable multiplayer sonic game.

Try a different wifi or hardwired Ethernet to the dock. Maybe tether to your phone. There's some issue where Switches don't play nicely with some routers. Mine is dreadfully slow on my Xfinity router, but perfectly fast when I connect it to my phone's hotspot.
