The Midea Duo portable is a good deal, as are the Midea and Dreo u-shaped inverter window units. I picked up my Midea window units a couple years ago (also warehouse, pristine condition sold as acceptable because of packaging damage) in for only slightly less - still kicking just fine despite less than ideal conditions. They're crazy efficient these days!

except the "Dreo 8000 BTU U-Shaped Inverter AC Unit" is not actually a U shaped air conditioner. even the reviews complain about it. what garbage. ​

Wut? That's nuts! I wonder if it's even an inverter unit. The Dreo version of the Duo is great, I suggested that one based on that experience and the great price. Good watching out!!

I don't think the Midea portable is a duo or inverter style unit. I could be wrong but the item number for the duo isn't matching up with that one. Here's a link to that unit's product page:

Single-hose AC units are super inefficient and noisy. No wonder the 2nd most important specification is not mentioned at all; the efficiency rating.

Be careful is all I can say, with used units... you don't know the quality of its use or if previous owner took care of it.


I bought a single hose GE only to have it fail after a few months. (It's fixable, but it's failed in terms of a leak somewhere on the coil of the unit... Only HALF of the coil is cold when it's running.)

Again with a Midea Dual hose... It worked the first few months then the compressor just stopped working. The fans run but I don't hear/feel the compressors kick on. No cold air either...

Happened to be about 2 times before I just bought a new unit. By the time i came back to see if I can get a refund/exchange? It was over the return/exchange period for the amazon AC units.

Not trying to dissuade anyone from getting used AC units. Just giving my honest opinion... For the price of (2) units I purchased through Amazon? I could have gotten my (1) NEW unit, and not have to look back (I'm still running strong, 9mos on the new unit, and it has a warranty to boot!)
