Metabo has been around a long time and gained their popularity with angle grinders. Anything previously branded Hitachi is now Metabo HPT.
I'm a serial home builder and I'm doing many projects all the time. Metabo is my entire kit. I have nearly every tool and doubles and triples of many, including this drill and impact. I think these are the middle of the road models for both drills and impacts, which are perfectly adequate. I use them almost daily. The thing about this brand is that there's a ton of them out there, and while not every individual tool will be the best in the industry, their stuff punches far, far above the price point you can get them for if you hunt for deals.

You will frequently see this brand going on sale for nearly half price of its competitors and some of their tools are the best I've ever used. For example, the high-end impact called a triple hammer. It's the fastest impact I've ever seen. For half the price of the yellow tools You can have some really good kit.

I have both of these, purchased used from a Facebook marketplace post, and they are holding up great so far. I've really used the impact more than anything and it hits hard for what it is. Which I was surprised at first because of how lightweight they feel.

Just went to a local lowe's. Hoping to catch some metabo's on clearance. Ghost town power tool section. No one there. Whole store was giving ghost town vibes.

Employees were hanging by the cooler talking to themselves in a couple of clusters doing nothing for an hour.

Ugly ass name. Should have stayed with Hitachi, known reliable Japanese company.
I can't hear "Hitachi" in any conext without thinking of the ubiquitous "wand," the sex toy. Not the kind of tool I'm looking for.

Agree with this. Contractor here, and I settled on Hitachi/Metabo for my guys a few years ago. Each time I bring on a new guy, I buy one of the 7-tool sets, and occasionally will pick up another hammer drill/impact combo just to add some batteries/chargers to our stock. We probably have 35-40 Metabo power tools amongst our guys and we put regular moderate/heavy use on all of these doing all kinds of projects. My guys throw these around in their trucks, on the job sites, and so far, we've only sent one fine saw in for replacement in the last 3 years. This replacement took one phone call and we got a brand new unit via UPS within a week.

Overall, the price point and performance of Metabo is great. We don't need to spend 2x-3x the price for Milwaukee, and we get a lot done with these Metabo sets every day. I'd recommend these tools to anyone!

Read a piece that said the 2ah delivers more power than the 3ah.

nope always high ah delivers more power/torque ... more demanding the task the more benefit.

If I hadn't bought out all the hitachi tools dirt cheap when they switched from hitachi to metabo I probably wouldn't be interested in this deal. The batteries in order to replace my aging ones might make it worth it.

You can buy the same combo from Amazon for 104 with the 25 promotion offers. Mine arrived today. I really love the material and ergonomics on hand.

If you are looking for something inexpensive that will not last long, this is the tool for you. I brought a set, and they lasted a few months. The batteries do not last, and the tools break or stop turning. The customer service is ok. They will replace the bad tool with a new one which break after using it for a few weeks. Buyer be ware.

Disagree. I don't think you actually have experience with this brand.

The dex models are much bigger than the ddx models and not much more power. Wh18dc is the same size as the subcompact ddx line with much more power. I would stay away from the dex models. Also, I'm a huge fan of the impacts from mhpt but I find the drill chucks to let go of heavier bits due to the really strong break on their drills, but they do have great power and ergos.
