Similar performance in gaming to Ryzen 5 3600. But this is pcie 3.0. 3600 beats it slightly in some games. Nice cheap upgrade to those on Ryzen 3 or 5 1st or 2nd gen. Can utilize same motherboard with bios update.
There is no budget card that is going to be affected by PCI3 speeds. There are barely ultra high end ones that are.
Unless you are aiming for 240fps this is a non-issue for 99% of use cases.

would suggest you spend more to get 5600, huge difference…
Not really, and it's not worth spending the extra $40 to get a few extra frames.

I appreciate you. Was about to ask if it's worth upgrading from my aging 3600 lol

Might decide between this or 5600 by the time BF comes around this year when building a gaming PC for my nephews for Xmas 😁

depends on the game, some of those comparisons in the videos had a modest difference in fps but other games had like 20 fps more for the 5600 which is significant

I just upgraded my old 2200g. Paired this 5500, an RX 6600, and an NVMe SSD.

I know it's not super state of the art, but for <$350 it runs like lightening and it plays every game I've tried so far (at 1080p)

The 5600 is a better CPU if you pair with a 6700XT or higher. The 5500 works well with a 6650XT.

I see the 5600 is $110 on amazon right now. Is it worth the $20 increase? I'm upgrading from a ryzen 5 1600.

Dang, I didnt see the 5600 when i pulled the trigger on the 5500. I definitely saw a boost after upgrading from my 2600 though, and the frame rate in games were much more stable. I think i would spend the extra $20 and get the 5600. I'm debating if i should return this 5500 and get the 5600.

I was thinking about the 5500 yesterday and like the other poster above I saw the 5600 was at $130 but showed up at $110 today. Thanks for the input I'll just spend a bit more lol
