If you're referring to the firmware bug that locks up the drive to be read-only, that issue mainly affected the 2TB model however I believe it's applicable to all models, but with that being said the firmware that's affected was first release back in 2020/2021. If the drive was manufactured in 2022 or later it'll most likely not have the buggy firmware. The Samsung Magician program makes it super easy for end users to verify the firmware version, check drive health and update the firmware.

Note on this Amazon link, the 2TB is $160 with a $10 coupon making it $150. Newegg is the same and has a $10 promo code listed.

I just received the WD Black SN770 with up to 5,150 MB/s.

Is this 7,000 MB/s way faster?

For most users, no. Theoretical maximums are rarely hit, but nonetheless, you'll see mostly no difference with everyday use unless you're transferring files regularly. The randoms should be very similar.

Bought one from Microcenter for $104.99 in a bundle 10 days ago.
Just contacted with Microcenter checking if they would honor their price match policy.
Their reply:"That goes bellow what we as a company get the item for, so we cannot match that, I do apologize."

update: checked with them again and replied with "Thank you for your patience. I was informed the price is too low to match. I do apologize about that."

:/

I've got the 500 GB version of this. It works great and I have no complaints, but if I could have it over again, I would have bought a lower-end drive with higher capacity for a lower price. If you read storage reviews, you'll see that for most tasks (including gaming), SSD performance makes very little difference.

Also, many on SD will talk about how important the endurance of the drive is, but be realistic about your use of the drive and whether that matters to you. If you're a photographer and are processing TB of photos every week, then maybe the write endurance of the drive matters for you, but if you're a gamer who swaps <100 GB worth of games on the drive every month, then endurance shouldn't be your main concern.
