In case anyone was using these for checks (yes, there are still outlier vendors who only accept checks), according to the FAQs from the manufacturer, the ink in these pens are not permanent, so no fraud protection like the Uni-ball 207s or Pentel Energels.

My wife bought me a couple of these pens for my birthday and I switched to these instead of my normal Pilot G-2 pens.

I don't like these pens. I tried them, and I stick with using my Pentel Energel RTX's a lot more. The Sharpies seem really basic. Don't let the Sharpie name fool you.

Personal preference, of course, but my favorite used to be RTX, then I tried these and switched. I like the Sharpie much more.

'No smear' sounded appealing compared to my G-2's and then I looked at the second review image and there it is smearing from a highlighter. Ah well.

I'm looking for the absolute smoothest writing pen - within reason, of course - but I'd pay $20 for one I really enjoy - Any ideas?

I always reach for the uniball 207 for anything requiring my signature. Smooth, a pleasure to write with, and affordable: https://uniballco.com/products/207-gel-pens

Have you tried Pilot Precise V5 RT? I buy these and then just buy replacement inks. Pens sometimes crack as I'm fidgety and twist/untwist, but have more of the frames to swap out.

As a lefty, I was excited to hear about a no smear, no bleed pen.... then looking at the photos from reviewers, it looks like there are other issues with the pens. Damn.

no smear means the ink dries fast and won't rub off on your hand while writing. highlighters are a completely different game. aside from that scenario, all other reviews indicate that there is no smearing, though some complain of the ink not coming out of the pen uniformly, so perhaps it dries a little too quick
