There are two ingredients commonly found in pre-workouts that have this effect: beta alanine and niacin. Beta alanine generally has a stronger effect for most people. If you're as unhealthily-dependent on stimulants as I am, this is a very welcome feeling. I will often declare, "It's HAPPENING!!!!!!!" in a pseudo-menacing manner when I feel it kicking in -- sometimes to my wife, sometimes to my pups, sometimes to an empty room. 🤷 ♀️

This also works on the C4 Smart Energy, which I prefer over this since it doesn't have the beta alanine. It's cheapest with the Peach Mango Nectar but a few of the other ones are decent deals, too.

I'm surprised you find the flavors underwhelming — I feel quite the opposite. C4 energy drink flavors are pretty overwhelming to me (in a negative way). I can't stand them just cause they taste like super concentrated artificially sweetened candy in liquid form. You just feel like you're drinking a bunch of factory chemicals.
