Go figure full price before discounts was $29.99 when I got this from Target in 2021. 15% discount code makes up for the 16% inflation increase. :/

Wish I could find the receipt from when I got mine, but pretty sure I paid <$20 for it. Wish it was the travel version that didn't exist when I got mine. Anyone wanna trade?

I had considered getting the travel but glad I didn't. I have ended up using the inverted method almost every time, basically turning it into a mini French Press that's 10x easier to clean up after. I use 7-8oz of water and I think the travel one is a little smaller and wouldn't fit that much.

I feel like they missed the mark on the travel version. If the cup were metal, I'd buy one for hiking, but as it stands I can't heat water in the plastic cup on a stove. When I'm just traveling and not so constrained by weight and volume, I like a full-sized press that can hold a grinder. I'm scratching my head about what niche the travel Aeropress is trying to cater to.

European travel for me where every hotel and Airbnb has an electric kettle.

I remember the rubber gasket was only $5 like 2-3 years ago, now $10!!! And I also remember getting my first aeropress for like $18 or so.

A metal cup would work with a kettle for touring Europe, as well on a butane burner for island hopping in SE Asia where electricity is too scarce/expensive to use for cooking, or when you're a three day hike and an hour car ride from the nearest electrical outlet. The only place I've found my metal cup to be a disadvantage is in the States where microwaves in hotel rooms are the standard, but finding microwave safe vessels in a pinch is easier than finding a stovetop safe cup.

I got my old press stolen in Costa Rica last year and I had to get a new one. I think they've changed the rubber gasket. The new one doesn't seem to "compress" if you forget to press the plunger all the way through, and it feels way different when you push it. When it's dry, it catches and stutters on the way down, but when it's wet it glides really easily. Big improvement.

I use the travel because 90% of hotel cups/mugs are too small or flimsy to press directly into. Before I had to travel with a large metal mug along with an aeropress. Think of the included cup as a carafe that won't shatter or get dented.
