I swear this iPad has had not gone below $399.99. Not even for BF.

Apple won't let it. They want to sell 10th gen iPads.

Apple maintains a premium product status. Plus if the price went any lower people would not buy the better pads. It's the best small tablet around by a mile.

I understand.

Now…please don't take me the wrong way or think I'm complaining or naive about this but I'm trying to make sense to me by seeing someone else perspective here:

how the targeted folks find this mini variant very appealing to use regularly especially when the iPhone is already that big for the same use case?

I have the iPhone SE 2016 as my daily driver and personally tried the mini variant myself and find it less practical and productive to use it like split screen and it looks cramps so I didn't understand who would be targeted consumer. Someone with small hands single-handedly? Media consumption?

I mean the 9th iPad is a tad bit bigger, dated looking admittedly but still lightweight…a very expensive lightweight iPad mini.

Heck, the right iPad for me is the 10.3" 9th gen iPad for basic media consumption, especially for the price of sub $300.

Guess I'll never hear someone else's here giving the mini variant a lot of praises.

I can't explain why exactly, but if you have iPhones of different sizes, and full size iPads of different generations laying around a house, the one favorite go-to for little kids is the iPad Mini.

It is a real life family fact, so they maintain a premium price.

I don't have an iPhone, so I may be off the mark, but phones are too narrow for reading. Ipad mini fits easily in a jacket pocket and is comfortable for reading.

Having said that, I bought a 9th Gen iPad for 280, then returned it to get a current Gen Air for 400, so I guess I didn't find that super compelling. The Air, with bigger screen and speakers on both sides, seems better for TV in bed at night. And it's pretty manageable for reading.

They know mini doesn't sell. Which is why you never see a deal. You should have gotten the Air 4 for $349 which is way better. Don't bother disputing me folks, not listening!
Air 4 better than mini 6 in exactly no ways folks.

Yeah but it's barely noticeable after a few updates.
