That simply isn't true. You are either misinformed or a liar. Here is a photo I snapped of these beans in my hopper 2 mins ago in response to this post. They are certainly not dark to extra dark.

And before someone says I'm a shill, I am not affiliated with the brand or coffee or food for that matter in any way. I just use this daily and think it's a great every day value and hate to see snobs thread crap. Especially like the above post, when it isn't even true.
Coffee snobs already thread crapping lol. I don't like cheap coffee. I won't drink folgers or maxwell house. I really try to avoid the keurig style machine at work. We use these in our home espresso machine (Breville 870) and have them on subscribe and save. It makes very consistent espresso which we use for things like espresso, lattes and Americanos. Unlike some of the more expensive, more freshly roasted blends we've used, these aren't oily, which our grinder likes. It's definitely more agreeable than some of the significantly more expensive local roasts we've used.

I think the taste is good, the price is amazing ($.30 an ounce!) and it makes quality, consistent espresso drinks.

Not sure why there are so many ultra coffee snobs on here but in my orbit, having a $700 espresso machine already puts me in pretty rare company, and I think this coffee is great. I've made drinks for it with people who have raved about it.

It's not the poop coffee on a $10k machine, but I have other hobbies, and for me, the convenience, flavor, consistency, and price combo can't be beat.
Damn buddy, who pissed in your coffee?

So what is it??
It is dark roast or slightly toward extra dark.
Do you know why cheap beans are always dark? Google it.

I find myself really loving it as an espresso. When properly extracted, it's not at all roasty and is incredibly round and balanced. It's definitely not a flavor bomb. It's more on the nutty-chocolate spectrum than the fruity side, in my opinion. It also works nicely in milk-based beverages. It's extremely subtle. There is no fruit or roasted flavor to offset the milk. So, if you enjoy that kind of sweet, well-balanced cappuccino, this is for you.

It's not about who pissed in his coffee, these beans are serious garbage.

Someone asked an opinion on this coffee, and I simply said it's the worst I've ever had. Since I don't waste anything, I've been taking a shot every morning in utter disgust. Probably have 1.5 pounds left.

I've purchased this over 20 times (so says amazon) and it's always at a sub-$10 price point. Definitely not FP material, just an average price.

I've gotten this a couple of times. It's okay to use for regular coffee but definitely not great for espresso.

I like the taste but have given up on these because of the inconsistency from bag to bag. With the last bag I got, I just couldn't get a good extraction no matter how much I tried adjusting grinding and tamping. It's also weirdly low density compared to boutique beans. 15g needs a bigger filter basket to not overflow and lose a bunch, compared to boutique beans.

it's not even coffee so doesn't matter it's medium or dark roast.

This is a very good price (occasionally, there's an extra S&S coupon that makes it a super slick deal). I have been using this as my preferred coffee bean for the last year. It's truly a medium roast, so they are not oily — it won't gum up an espresso machine. It produces a beautiful crema in my Breville Barista Touch. My household goes through 2 of these bags each month. I used to buy them at Costco until my local store stopped carrying them. They are still available at Costco Business Centers, but consistently cost over $15 in my area.
