How much ft-lbs of torque should you have in a battery powered impact wrench for working on a car (wheel lug nuts, etc)?

Cheap $60 impact wrenches go up to around 100 ft-lbs and the pricier ones go up around 1200-1400 ft-lbs for $150-180. Is the cheap one good enough for DIY car stuff?

Reported, the lug nuts on my 22' Ford maverick calls for about 148 lbs of torque.

I am about to do my front struts, which are torqued to ~400 ft-lbs (lug nuts at 150ft#s), so I prefer the mid-torques rated for 600 and change to cover all bases.

One can get into trouble with 1.4K/ft-lbs of torque and anything requiring that amount is surely above my pay grade. Smilie

So pissed that I cannot find my 12mm deep impact socket.
I don't want to spend $7 for one or $20+ for a whole set!
SD frontpage just rubbing salt in the wound!
They really should make sets with two 12's and two 10's - everyone would pick those!
