It may be a common use, but it's not so common a home DIYer needs to be concerned with it. I've had this saw for 2 years now, never once have I wished I had the 10" version to have dados.

But of course this all depends on what you plan to do with it. If dado cuts are common for you, don't get this or change your workflow (I instead either do multiple passes or use my router). but if you're doing minor home DIY projects like trim, decking, etc., there is no reason to pass on this.

The only thing i'd question here is the fact that it is amazon. Call me tin foil hat, I just don't trust them anymore. Refurb'd products instead of brand new, repacked returns that were faulty to begin with, knock offs, etc. Plus, i'm not sure if this applies but i don't think amazon is an authorized reseller which means Dewalt can refused to honor their manufacturer warranty (i'd look into this, i may not be right but it's something i'd be curious about).

The main issue is the lack of the capacity to install a dado stack --- one of the very common use for a table saw.

Is this a good table saw for a DIYer home owner? Really having a hard time figuring out what the right saw is.
I am a DIYer new to woodwork. I don't plan to make it a career or even serious hobby making fine furniture etc. So I decided to go for the lower priced one, instead of, say, the 10" jobsite with cart, currently $529 and considered as good price.

The only knock on this table saw is the lack of saw blades, compared to the other sized table saws. If you are a DIYer, this should work out fine, although I would hold out for a deal with a stand included.
Someone just posted a deal on Dewalt 40T blade, $17, on Amazon

Thanks for the feedback. It's doubtful I'd ever use it for dado cuts, but would it be worth spending an extra $75 or so to get something like this?

How does this compare to the Skil 15a 10" one? I got the Skil back during Black Fri for the same price range (still haven't opened it or used it of course lol).

I can't speak to the SKIL. I have and have had a lot of Dewalt tools and i'm a big fan of them. I've had nothing but good things to say about the 8.25" table saw.

10" blades are a lot more common and like mentioned can handle dado stacks. However, i've had little issue finding good 8.25" blades at either HD or Lowes. As for the stand, I don't like the cheap metal ones that come with the saws. I prefer to build a small workbench and add a table saw stand to the end and use the workbench as an outfeed table.

8.25" blades are just going to become more common as this is becoming the 'standard' for smaller/cheaper table saw, has something to do w/newish safety regs.

Regarding dado stacks on this saw, if the arbor is similar to the old DW745 this is based off of (Dewalt's previous cheapest table saw) - a full stack might not fit but a pair of box joint blades probably will, enabling the user to cut 3/8 or 1/4 dados, which is a little more efficient than trying to do 5 passes with a thin kerf blade for similar effect.

The rack & pinion fence on Dewalt's portable table saws make them just about the best portable TS's on the market. The next step up is into contractor/hybrid saw territory and a lot of folks just don't have the space available for them.

I have yet to find a deck builder requiring a table saw. Nor does trim work. LOL

Dado on the other hand, is the most important (and common) joint in woodwork, unless screws are your favorite go-to joinery. Routers work, but they do not do repeated cuts well. Each new cut takes a long time for setup.

If you get this I would highly recommend getting the folding stand as well if you can find it for a decent price - https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DW7...B01LT4MIZU

hahaha, probably not the best examples but read between the lines and don't be so dense.

I've had this 2 years. I've built cabinets, boxes, bins, shelves, etc. using my table saw. Never once have I wished I could do a dado on my table saw. Again, IF YOU HAVE THIS NEED then consider getting a different saw. IF YOU DON'T then it isn't a concern.

The few times I created a dado or a rabbet joint I used either my router or multi passes on the table saw. It would have taken longer to get the dado installed than it did running it through multiple passes. But for those less dense, if you have a need to do dados in repetition and need repeatability, then get one that accepts dados. This isn't hard.

I agree… I have the Saw with the Stand as part of the Saw. You can fold it up and stick it in the corner when not in use. Otherwise you'll need a stand (sawhorses etc) to sit it on.
