Also HD has 3/8 in. Drive SAE/MM Impact Set (44-Piece) without the ratchet for $39.97

I'm a first time homeowner and in need of a 1/2 socket to uninstall a tv mount. I already have a set of drill/driver bits so I don't have to spend that much for a 100+ or 200+ pieces set.

The impact sets doesn't have ratchet so I bought the regular set with ratchet. Uninstalled the tv mount in 3 minutes!

Impact sets are sturdier and used with impact drills mainly.

If you're a homeowner and using a ratchet or screwdriver or plain drill, and you're assembling/disassembling furniture, hanging stuff, or repairing appliances with hex head screws, a plain set is fine.

The 400pc set is only 149, looks to have a ton of sockets, not screwdriver bits like companies do to make the piece count higher.

Where do you see that? in Husky brand tools? Or was that one of those walmart deals?

I think he was referring to this 290 pc set for $149. It seems like a great deal.

174 sockets yeah, that set is not fudging around. very good mechanics set. but, its 3 times the price and takes up a lot more space. its more for someone whos going to be rebuilding an engine and not for just changing spark plugs and an alternator.
