I just want to take a moment of silence for all the folks who said "wait for black friday" over the last several months. They were right. Saved everyone a whopping $5.

LOL
Same price as basically everywhere else, BUT

Check if you're eligible for the Amex promo. I was able to get 30% off ($50 max), which gave me a $50 discount for applying 1MR.
If you have an Amazon Prime Visa that normally gives 5% back, send yourself a gift card [amazon.com], and apply it towards this purchase with the claim code. This effectively gives you ~$7.50 back

I did both, effective price of $142.50 or $10.18/TB. Even better than Best Buy w/ recycle coupon. This deal was found under the Black Friday Deals section for PC components [amazon.com], and expires by the end of 11/26. Good luck folks!

If it is in stock in store. In many cases, it is now shipping to stores for pickup after the sale, and this usually involves return/rebuy, but by the time it arrives, the sale will be over. So this is a YMMV situation with this discount. Some managers will override for you, others will tell you to pound salt.
That's true. The stores around me all had them in stock. But I do live in the Twin Cities, where Best Buy is based and we've got more stores than anywhere else, so that may contribute to it.

10% off for original price product not discounted product, right? at least it didn't work for me

same, so sad
No, I got 10% off the $199.99 price (even x2 since I bought 2).

I think my email mentioned something about stale cart, maybe some promo when you leave something in your cart for a period of time.

the cashback is 15% but after placing the order, it showed 19.9 amount with 300 points instead of 199.9 with 3000 points. so weird.
I got the same, I thought I did something wrong, I wonder if its a placeholder until they verify the purchase.

Picked up a second one from WD directly, using the "certain cb" site. That site is offering $10 welcome bonus and 15% cb at WD. $208 shipped ($13 taxes), $41.20 in expected cb, so effective price of $153.80 ($10.98/TB).

This actually could be pretty good if you want two or more drives. The certain site is also offering $40 referral bonus. Didn't verify, but it seems like you could make one account and get 15% + $10 welcome bonus + $40 referral bonus x # of referrals, and the referred accounts gets 15% + $10 welcome. In short, another $40 off per extra drive.

I followed those steps to cleanly remove the entire wire. I also purchased the same cable from Amazon because mine was not modular like that one is.

You can just put electrical tape on the connector. Took me 6 minutes to install the drive.

Yeah, mine is showing up short too. I sent them a message. Let see what happens.

Amazon is occasionally revived on backorders. Was dead, went back 10 minutes later and was able to place a "coming soon" order. Now dead again.

I don't know what points you are talking about so I must have used a different site for 15% cb, but mine is also pending for $3 cb on a $19.99 purchase. Off by 1 decimal place. I just emailed the cb site support. I wouldn't have purchased without $30 cb.

Yes, it looks like the second dollar digit is incorrect. In my case, I used a $5.00 coupon which reduced my price to $194.99. My cashback is $2.25 on a $14.99 purchase.

Yes, the offer expires, try to apply the $10 welcome bonus coupon code at WD but that won't apply on the $199 sales price. So I end up applying the honey coupon 128usb2 and got a 128GB flash drive for FREE with the order. The flash drive itself worth about $15, so if you sum up, you pay $199 + sales tax for the 14TB + 128GB USB flash drive.

I did that and a week later the drive went bonkers, a bunch of files got corrupted, and it power cycled hundreds of times in an hour. I feel a lot better not having the wire at all.

Electrical tape is pretty thick, so I can see that happening. Do whatever works for you, but FYI, I've had success using ordinary scotch tape for 2 years. Eventually replaced it with kapton tape, and on inspection, there's no particular indication the scotch tape wouldn't have worked as a permanent solution.

All you gotta do is snip the wire
