Looks like there won't be any synology deals this year. Last year there were 920+ deal that started about now. And then Newegg had qnap deal

I thought there was a 920+ sale on Black Friday/Cyber Monday last year?

Edit: link for last year's sale

I paid about $120 for one of these a few years ago. Have been using it with a TVS-873. Seems reliable but it's not as nice as the synology expansion unit that uses eSATA. But then again, it also no where near as expensive.

I kind of want to buy this as a expansion to my storage pool but don't really need it yet…. Oh decisions.

Don't do it. Lots of reasons. Big one is no raid scrubbing.

I was under the impression it integrates right into your QNAP pool and is seen as internal drives?

No mention of Plex support, FYI. Sounds like a DAS won't meet my needs. Oh well, YMMV.

Highly doubtful. This doesn't have networking capabilities, does it? You could run it if you keep it connected to an always on computer.
