The TSTAK is a few generations old at this point. Unless you've already got this system, I'd recommend looking into the toughsystem instead. That said, the Milwaukee Packout is probably better than any other system out there.

Bought a few of these over the past couple of months for new tools. This seems to be more of the regular price but good boxes.

The link is to a TSTAK II product, which is the current generation. Both the TSTAK and ToughSystem are second generation currently.

With that said, the ToughSystem is the heavier-duty line of the two - and also waterproof. If it is just storage around the home, the TSTAK is probably more than enough. If you're regularly taking stuff to worksites where it will be knocked around and if you're throwing stuff in the back of a pickup (possible rain), then I'd consider the ToughSystem.

This is the normal price for these. In fact, the Craftsman version if this case, which is usually $5 more, is better as it has a gasket and metal pins for the tstak clips.

It's this price all the time.

(Amazon prime is funny though... if I order in the next hour, I can get it in 2 hours.... So someone will go to Home Depot and get it for me for the 19.95 they're selling it for lol ).

Packout is a multiple of the price and Toughsystem is 150-175% of the price. Depends what you need. Both price and size, Packout is bigger too. Depends on whether you're using it a lot outside, or storing tools in a closet.

At least someone has finally come out with Toughsystem to Tstak adapters.

I've many small parts in Tstak and had been using bungies to mount them on my Toughsystem

Tough system is better for outdoor and is heavier. tsak is a very good system and works with versastack. Milwaukee costs double esp. vs tstak when it's on sale.

We use this exact box with the foam inserts [amazon.com] daily for a multitude of tools. Both Amazon and HD have the foam inserts on sale from time to time for about $10 that keeps tools, chargers and batteries from banging around and organized. Sometimes, Acme and others will have these boxes on sale for $17 to $18, foam inserts for $8 to $10, but there is a minimum for free shipping.

You will have close to $30 per box, but besides being organized, tools stay nice and last longer ----there is a lot of electronics happening with new battery powered tools and no sense in wearing them out before you even get to use them..
================

As far as water proof systems, they have their place, such as hauling in the rain if you remember to close the top vent. The heavier duty ToughSystem is waterproof when new, but we buy those for heavier and larger items such as circular saws with extra blades and such. I still like the optional (and different from TStack) foam in the bottom. For regular power tools, these TStack boxes with foam insert and brand color stencil painted on ends for contents have been perfect. The only boxes that have been somewhat 'fragile,' are those from all brands with the translucent lids.

It kind of appears to be a bit gimmicky, but whatever someone wants. We have had three carts and unless on solid flat surfaces, those little plastic wheels that do not last long, do not roll well and you are more or less dragging them along. Maybe someday I will get around to mounting larger pneumatic wheels on the carts. Add that what I need is always on the bottom and fully loaded it takes two guys to get out of the back of truck without unstacking, the stacking option is more or less worthless to me and many others on new construction.
