You might need to change the settings so it doesn't reset the IP often. I don't have that issue with my router about 75+ feet away from most devices and still get ~150mb that far away on 5G. I'm getting the full 300mb on AX devices within ~50feet. YMMY depending on walls, interference and etc.

Surprising how atleast 2.5gbe is not so common. Verizon and Comcast both have started offering speeds greater than 1gig and people already use high speed networking with their NAS.

yeah I think there's more to the story on why it isn't as common that we don't know. Everyone could use higher speeds for local LAN and going from 1g > 10g for even most businesses is totally overkill.

While I agree in general, but a lot of people have NAS with SSDs or raid HDD which can benefit from high bandwidth. In my locality, comcast does 1200mbps on gigabit plan, with overprovisioning, it can reach as high as 1400mbps. I had to upgrade just about everything to get that speed. My desktop motherboard ethernet port was rated for 1gig, my modem and router only had 1 gig port as well. I got free rental modem from Xfinity with 2,5gbe port and had to buy a usb dongle with 2.5gbe port on my desktop to get near those speed. Of course, with my usage its not gonna make a huge difference, but It feels nice to get an almost 40% speed bump..

whoa you use a usb dongle with 2.5gb? Does it work well? I generally stay away from USB ethernet but if it works. We use usb dongles for just plain 1gb network and after time (ours run 24/7) they start acting wonky and need to be replaced.

I was skeptical as well, I bought the dongle since it was relatively cheap, but also got a PCIe card. For some reason could never get the PCIe card to work properly even after switching different ports, trying different drivers. Was getting 600mbps max speed when my onboard was getting 940mbps. PCIe card in question:

The dongle I have been using for a week, semi-heavy use with a few transfers over 60gb at a time. So far, no issue and have been getting 1350-1400mbps consistently. This is the dongle:

Does anyone know if I could add this to the mesh tp link network that's already existing in my house? The one I have is all TP-Link AC but I don't know if there was a setting for it to add this or have this manage the network.

I did some review reading - seems like Netgear routers in general have gone down in quality.
