the white one has Bluetooth so setup is easier. no need to connect to the devices ad-hoc wifi to get it to connect to your network.
My guess, the color 🤷 ♂️
I bought one of the old black models and was pleasantly surprised by it.

There's the main box / warning light / warning siren that you mount wherever, and a small sensor that just sticks on inside of the garage door where it is vertical closed / horizontal opened. Only mod I made was toning the warning chime down a bit with some tape.

Inexpensive, works as expected, and easy to install. Pretty much nothing I buy checks all of those boxes together.

I would not pay more for bluetooth if all it does is make setup easier. Setup is easy without it and the "old" version has a good reputation. I'm cranky but I see adding bluetooth as just another added chip or modified chip that isn't as proven. No way I'd pay more for it.

Yup me too. I have the black version. I like it but the alert is very slow. Sometimes it takes 3-5mins to get the alert the garage has been open.

Wow. That long? I had a genie at my old house with a genie hub, it worked really good. Alerts were instant. Cost was $100 so for $17 I figured I would by the black one.

The white one is the latest revision so might as well get that over the black one, which now says (Old Model) in the product listing.

Does this new model allow the user to open/close garage door without being home outside of home wifi network?

Got the black one as well during BF. Integrated it with Amazon Key and Ring, and it's pretty much instant. I have it alert me via the Ring app when it's open and close, so I bypass the MyQ app. I only use the MyQ app if I need to open/close my garage with the app rather than a physical controller.

That's the main drawback of the MyQ system as it doesn't fully integrate into Ring. My old ADT Pulse garage opener allowed me to open/close the garage within the app, which is much more accepted by my wife. Oh well.

Does anyone know if these can be unlinked from an account once they're associated? I read somewhere that its not possible. I got the black version but it wasn't compatible. Trying to see if I can flip it on a marketplace.

You don't have any doors in your home besides the garage?

My garage is separate for some dumb reason (3 year old home) the builder put in detached garages. Most of these smart 3rd party garage openers don't work with the newer models of openers. I had the black version and it stopped working and support was no help (no fault of their own). So then I switched over to Meross and that too stopped working as well. At least it notifies me but the open/close no longer functions.

I'm about to the point of just switching over completely to a smart opener.
