If you don't print a lot. I'd strongly recommend not getting an inkjet printer. I learned that the hard way

It wastes ink keeping the ink head lubricated and ready to print.

I'd spend a little more and get a tank-style printer from Epson or Brother or HP (last choice) as they are much more economical to use.
The ink cartridges in these cheap printers contain very small amount of ink vs the tank style that last a year or two.

It really depends on your needs and budget. Some have a scanner/copier function and some don't. I know if you look at Costco and Sam's Club, they have models by Epson and Brother that includes extra FREE ink bottles that you don't get at BestBuy or Amazon. With the tank printers, it's a little more $$$ upfront but you can save a ton on ink by just filling the tanks with bottles instead of replacing the printheads every time with normal cartridges.

PLUS, printer manufacturers are now locking their printers to THEIR brand of ink cartridges, but tank printers, since you just use a bottle of ink, there is no way to control that, so you can buy cheaper ink and fill your tanks (but to be honest, OEM ink is pretty cheap and lasts a long time).

If possible, don't choose HP. They're a greedy, terrible company that was bricking their customers printers with a firmware update that if you didn't have genuine HP cartridges installed, your printer stopped working. They're always playing games to get you to pay for ink (their subscription service that caused the printer to stop printing if you didn't buy enough ink). I just no longer trust HP.

Or, it doesn't (in the case of my gigantic Brother MFC-J6955DW, which uses cartridges, instead of large bottles to fill reservoirs). So my print head is ruined and not worth replacing, leaving me with a gigantic, but very capable scanner. And no- I didn't let them run out of ink.

This one uses ink cartridges.

I have the Epson ET-3850, that uses bottles. The reservoirs are huge, and the replacement ink is affordable. I will never buy a cartridge-based inkjet printer again. I used to trust Brother.

If you like buying expensive cartridges from Brother and having your print head clog anyway- follow this advice. I used and recommended Brother for about 25 years. This last printer from them will be my last. They have the nerve to brand it "InkVestment".

Or you can buy Epson and get large ink bottles that fill a reservoir. (And you can save money on the printer and the ink.) The Epson listed above uses cartridges, so probably a waste of money.
