Just outside the return period for the one I bought last month when it was on sale for $300 lol, has been working well so far. Recently ripped all my cds and wanted something that could play all my local music without having to turn on my tv like I did with my Sony CD player, my AVR was too slow with this getting bogged down with the amount of files. The Wiim when you first setup an external drive caches all the info so its very quick and works well once that is done, and adding new files doesn't take as long as the initial setup since you can say to only look for new files. Currently using an old M2 SSD drive in an extremal case I had lying around which has improved performance over the usb 2 thumb drive I initially connected to it. It also creates a media server automatically which is great, I can access my music on all my smart tvs including the one on the patio so I can play my music in any room.
The remote is also great as it is Bluetooth so you can use it from anywhere close by without line of sight. I have a zone 2 setup on my AVR with speakers in the Kitchen about 30ft away and the remote never has an issue, great while cooking since I don't have to unlock my phone every time I want to skip a song.
Tidal connect works well too, however I probably wont be keeping that once the trial ends for other reasons. Overall very happy with the device one month in, was a skeptic about these music streaming devices because the cost of some of them is crazy, but it really just makes it easier to do things, and even at full price the wiim is one of the more affordable ones and gives a lot of bang for your buck.
I find the app works well for playing my local music, what issues are you having?
It doesn't organize my tracks in proper 'by date added' order so attempting to play my newest tracks becomes a real pain...I have to physically search for them which is a whole other pain. Then there's no "shuffle" option. And (at least via Plex) I can only play songs from one folder at a time instead of my entire library.

Oh I see, I have a drive connected to the Wiim so other than the new tracks which I am not sure if it does that or not, I actually got it to solve the same no shuffle issue I had on my AVR. My flacs are already organized by artist then album by the ripping software, but that was one issue with my AVR not being able to shuffle all only in one folder, and when I put everything into one folder it just slowed it done to a crawl trying to read the directory, the Wiim solved that issue for me.
After it scans the drive it has different category organizations for your music and one is tracks, which will have all your songs from all folders and you can shuffle all from there. Same thing in the music server it creates, I can access the original folders, or the Wiim categories it creates including all tracks on other devices as well. This might not be the case though if you are using plex, not sure how it works with that.
If you are past the return period I would just give that a try, storage is cheap you might even have an old drive lying around you can use so won't have to spend anything extra, put your music on there and connect it to the wiim directly and see if that solves your issues with it.
