I have an inherited iRobot S9+ that is dying pretty quickly.
I'm looking for the most powerful and reliable vacuum. This will be 80% on carpets with lots of pet hair. Can somebody help me out with a choice? The Q8Max+ seems like the winner, but I'm unsure.

If you have a library card you can access Consumer reports online for free. Roborock are good. May want to consider getting from Costco when on sale due to easy returns. Refurbished direct from Roborock is not a bad option either.. i believe you can get additional 10% off direct from Roborock if you are a teacher, first responder or military

Before I bought mine last year (refurb S8 Ultra), I was trying to research what would be best for my needs. They have so many models now it's all just very confusing (to me at least).

Aside for getting info here, I'd also look at this comp chart where you can plug in the models you want to compare: https://us.roborock.com/pages/rob...er-compare

I have two Q5's and they're both doing great.

I ordered a Q5+ Max from this previous deal on eBay and it came brand new in a box.

To be honest, you can't expect a robotic vacuum to clean a shaggy carpet thoroughly. Even when I set my Roborock to its maximum suction power, it can only remove the surface - level loose hairs each time. And if I switch to using a Dyson with its maximum suction, a large amount of dust and dander can still be cleaned up. So, it's recommended to let the robotic vacuum do the daily cleaning, but still do a deep - clean by yourself on weekends.

I have 7 robot vacuums in service - ranging from these Q5 Pro+ to Q Revo Master

I have one of these Q5 Pro+ units in my garage - running twice a day, every day. A real torture test - and it's passed with flying colors. It's able to vacate large debris from the dust bin - which is gigantic. Even sucks up sand on the floor - and has been really reliable. A real workhorse.

Edit: Oops see it is the Q5 Pro + , so $200 for the big docking station is decent price.

Q5 Pro is a fantastic vacuum only robot (the mop is worthless, dont even attach it)

I am leaning towards this as you're right about mopping, it never works

Frankly the docking station in the q5 pro model is not necessary. The internal bin is massive. I empty it once every 3 weeks.
