Be careful. It could be a fake saffron. They might add chemical colors to other threads and make it look like saffron. The aroma, benefits and final color would not be the same.

I buy it by the ounce, but this is cheaper, gram to gram, than my wholesale source's price. Cheaper even than the price I was paying before the pandemic. I haven't seen real saffron this cheap since around 2012, and that was buying in bulk (300g) from a Spanish wholesaler.I also grow saffron, it's a lovely spring bloom, but harvesting more than a few dozen threads is ridiculous. There's a reason it's expensive.

There's a good chance that you still won't have "used actual saffron" after buying this. It's just too cheap. A lot of fake saffron is flooding the market. Some are from other flowers and some aren't from flowers at all. Some scammers even use shredded plastic. The water test can expose fake saffron that's been dyed red.
