Snagged one. Good price based on Honey's price history over the last 120 days. Shipped and sold by Amazon, so Ego warranty should be recognized.

What's this good for? 400W feels like a dead zone that's already covered by smaller inverters and not enough for most appliances. Small fridge maybe?

Interesting. I was unaware just recently that EGO had. I see that they also sell a lesser model that generates just 150W and is $87.91. Members of a local entomology club use these to power UV light setups in the woods at night to attract many species of moths.

laptop while on the road would be the only use case i can think of. im tempted to snag one because im already bought into the EGO ecosystem and love the idea of turning the battery into an outlet anywhere, but yeah not really sure what the best use case is.

Buy this in a store. A friend has one and has exchanged it about 6 times.
No fuse inside.

Have been eyeing one of these for a while. Main use would be in the event of a power outage. I could plug my sump pump into it.

You're probably right- that said, though, most laptops and stuff in that up to 400w arena are all going to usb-c and you can charge off of dc sources. I'd like to see someone make an ego or Ryobi device that just gives me a 12v with decent amperage to run a cooler or something (they're all going dc too).

The first generation of EGO inverters were not very good (PAD1500). Could not turn on a 32" tv and lamps plugged in were dim and flickered.

I dont think that 400W would be enough to allow a sump pump to start. I believe that most pumps use about 2x their running wattage to start. So if you had a 300w pump, it would likely need 600w available to start.

I have the older 150w one and its nice but it struggles to run a crock pot (for tailgating). Was very nice when I didn't have power for 36 hours, used it to charge phones and run fans. Funny enough it wouldn't run my son's white noise because it drew too little power and the inverter would shut off due to inactivity.
