There's no real difference when you are playing online. Even a 4k camera will look like a 480 through play.

also, you need the nintendo online subscripiton for it to work. I think its free for everyone for a while for the switch 2 launch

Camera quality is not just about resolution. It's also about refresh rate and how much light it can capture. These Hori 480p cameras also have low refresh rates and capture light poorly. That is what makes them garbage.

Nintendo put their seal of quality on it - it's meant to be used in handheld mode as a front-facing camera. For that use , it is a good product. Portability and close-up justify it.
