Here we go, another OP telling people to put a bare drive in a MS Surface. The SSD in the Surface is in an enclosure that transfers the heat into the base of the SSD. That heat is then transferred to the Surface chassis. If you put a bare drive in a Surface, you will get overheating and random restarts. If you really want to do this, get an official Microsoft 128GB SSD off eBay for $10 and use the enclosure for the 2TB drive.

Can't you use the enclosure of the old Surface drive you are upgrading from? I don't see how OP is telling people to put it in bare. I'm assuming if you're upgrading your Surface you would already have a SSD with the necessary enclosure

Taking the enclosure apart is risky because of possible damage. I would rather keep my old SSD intact in case I want to sell the Surface later on and keep the 2TB SSD for something else.

Too hot in the deck since it's very baked inside as the hardware layout. Go with mp600 NOT the mini. Or dato the 2tb I tried both and no complaints about temps!
