Instead of buying these crappy fridge filters, I think it's better to have an undersink filter that feeds your fridges water.

So, how do you tell that to your fridge when it sets off a reminder that it's time to change the filter ? Some manufacturers will cut off the water supply if you don't change the filter.

Fridges normally have a reset process to act like the filter has been replaced.

Is that a new thing. I've never owned or rented a house with a fridge that cut off the water supply including the Frigidaire that this filter belongs to.

It's true, part of Trumps plan to combat his recent passing of the restrictions on shower heads. All part of the Big Beautiful Bill !

I was suckered into buying one of these combo deals on SD a while back. I shortly found out after that generic filters that do the same thing and do it well can be found on amazon for 1/10th of the price of these OEMs.

Pass on these folks!

For a second, I thought the price was for the actual refrigerator.

It's not a new thing. It also has nothing to do with any political garbage. Some manufacturers, for example GE, installed RFID tags on water filters. Basically they expired them if they weren't used by a certain date, or, if a certain amount of water was filtered. No matter the case the advice for an external water filter is the best here. External inline water filters are easy to install, easy to replace and are better all around. For example: https://a.co/d/3sdVP1t.

Note: I didn't do research to pick the best one, but two for $9.50 each sure can't be beat.

Unless you know your tap water doesn't contain lead, you may want to make sure the generic filters you're buying can filter it. Many of them don't.

Great point. Thanks! Yes. You are right.

Check what you need to filter out prior. As mentioned I did a quick search on inline filters only. Not specifically pushing a product at all.
